About
My name is Sue Edwards, and I’ve been helping students boost their academic confidence, as well as their grades and SAT scores, for more than 10 years as a private tutor.
After working in the IT industry for 20+ years (I have an undergraduate degree in English and a masters degree in Information Technology), I took a break “for the holidays,” and started volunteering and substitute teaching at a local school. I loved it! I had so much fun, and learned a lot from the students about how children develop understanding. About 6 years ago, I also started working for a company in New England that helps parents and students navigate the college search and application process as an Essay Specialist. Since then, I have helped hundreds of students with their Common Application and Supplemental essays.
In 2019, I started working for The Princeton Review, teaching SAT prep. Since that time, I have worked with students using a variety of resource materials, evaluating differing approaches to find what I consider to be the best available. I have helped countless students achieve their best scores.
My tutoring approach
I believe every student can excel. Rather than talk at your student, I invite them to share with me what they know about the material they’re learning. When they explain what they know, students often realize they understand more than they thought. From there, I ask questions. A lot of questions. My intention is lead your child to discover a greater understanding of the material. Not only do they grasp the material, their confidence soars.
On a personal note
I love spending time with family and friends. I have 4 grown children and three young grandchildren. My husband and I find any excuse to get them all together. This year, we’re hosting our 4th Annual Summer Olympics! I also love playing the piano, reading, and going to the beach.
